Creation in Darkness

A Cacao, Rest & Sound Ceremony

February 7, 2026 — 11:30am-1:30pm @ Sakala Community — 1660 Gilpin St, Denver, CO 80218

In Hindu cosmology, darkness is not absence — it is the Mother.

The fertile womb from which all creation arises.

Creation in Darkness is a ceremonial journey into the generative void through ritual cacao, Yoga Nidra, and immersive sound. We begin by opening the heart with cacao, then descend into deep stillness — allowing the nervous system to soften and the psyche to rest inside the quiet field before form.

This ceremony is not about illumination or transformation through effort.
It is about remembering that creation begins in the dark — in listening, in waiting, in being held.

Cacao serves as the gentle guide across the threshold, warming the body and heart so the mind can release. From there, we enter long-form Yoga Nidra and sound immersion, resting in the silence beneath sensation — where insight, healing, and clarity naturally emerge.

Can you define the offerings?

Cacao Ceremony

The cacao ceremony is a gentle, intentional opening to the experience, using ceremonial-grade cacao to support heart awareness, relaxation, and presence. Participants are guided through intention setting and mindful consumption, allowing the body and nervous system to soften and arrive before deeper rest begins. The cacao used is non-psychoactive and offered in a supportive, grounded way, with care given to pacing, hydration, and individual sensitivity. This portion of the ceremony serves as a grounding threshold, helping participants transition out of daily stimulation and into a slower, more receptive state.

Nidra

Yoga Nidra is a guided rest practice that allows the body to fully relax while the mind remains gently aware, often described as a state between waking and sleep. Participants lie down in complete comfort as they are guided through breath, sensation, and imagery to support nervous system regulation and deep restoration. No movement or prior experience is required. This practice is especially supportive for stress, fatigue, and emotional overwhelm, offering rest that is both deeply calming and quietly restorative.

Soundbath

The sound bath is a meditative experience that uses live instruments and subtle vibration to guide the mind into a state of deep rest and spacious awareness. Rather than being something to “do,” participants simply lie down and listen as sound moves through the body, supporting relaxation, emotional regulation, and integration. The frequencies and pacing are intentionally gentle, designed to create a sense of containment rather than stimulation. Many people experience a quieting of mental activity, a softening of physical tension, or a feeling of being held by the sound itself.
